Everything you'll need to know...
Here's your chance to learn
stand-up-comedy, launch your
career and finally get on stage
where you belong.
You can talk about stand-up-comedy. You can even think about stand-up-comedy...but you can't experience and gain a thorough understanding of it until you study from someone who already has. Give me 5 minutes and I'll go get the guy from out the back.
If you are a person with a burning desire to become a stand-up-comedian,
I'm pretty sure you will
love this information.
The Killer Stand-up-Comedy System. Produce Mounds Of Killer Comedy Material In Minutes!
My own thoughts on the matter.
I think one of the best books on the subject is called Comedy Writing Secrets, by Mel Helitzer. Great book, which explains everything about constructing jokes.
It is interesting to watch any Comedian after reading that book - you can take their routine apart in your head.
I read something recently, can't remember where unfortunately, and they were talking about free association and how it isn't really ad-libbing. The more info and content you can cram into your brain, the easier it will be to ad-lib, think on your feet or free associate as the case may be.
I think you do that by reading - blogs, newspapers, books, magazines. I have also picked up a lot from TV, movies and music. Any form of input is good, just make sure you can store it away inside your brain for future use.
A great way of remembering things is by association. Blue car = the thing you're trying to remember. Remember the mega-memory system... number 16, St Lucia. The infomercial had Kevin Trudeau and Danny Bonaduce on it. There are a lot of great memory enhancement systems out there, but this is key to being a good comedian - being able to remember the things you see for later use. Here are some tips for memory improvement.
Is it really a solo act?
I am fortunate to have a good friend and most of the time we hang out, we are working on material.
Not sitting round a table with cups of coffee, but out and about making fun of ourselves and anything else we see.
He is a Voice over guy, so we often try to incorporate that into it. You will find, that most of the best comedians are brilliant voice and dramatic actors as well.
Case in point is Robin Williams. If you don't already have it, you need to rush out and get a copy of Robin Williams: Live on Broadway. No serious comedian should be without it.
A friend of mine once said - "work on the performer, not the show." He can also work on you to help you become a better performer. Juggler's work doesn't just help you with comedy, it will also change the way you look at women and the world
